For those who are new to being homeless or living rough the good news is there is bewildering range of free accommodation in Central and Greater London provided by Churches, Charities and other Religious Organisations and via Local Government. These can include day and night shelters, hostels, church overnight stays and many more options. Some are available only during the winter, others may be available all year round, some may require to be booked in advance or by referral from a recognised organisation, others are what are called in the trade “drop in” services where you can just turn up at the venue concerned. Further details on Shelter can be found at the Help and Directory and Churches sections of the London Homeless website.
